[10 Dec 2025] The annual Asia’s premier fashion event Fashion Summit (Hong Kong) 2025 with the theme ‘‘Illuminate the Art of Sustainable Fashion’’, organised by the Clothing Industry Training Authority (CITA) and sponsored by the Cultural and Creative Industries Development Agency. The International Conference of the Fashion Summit (Hong Kong) 2025 was held on 1 December at the Hong Kong Palace Museum, followed by the Fashion Product Showcase at the same venue the next day (2 December). The two-day events not only fostered deep engagement with the public but also continuously expanded the landscape of sustainable fashion. Fashion Summit (Hong Kong) 2025 introduces cutting-edge sustainable solutions to the local fashion industry and has facilitated the fashion industry and public to jointly explore future possibilities for sustainable fashion through conferences, fashion showcases, exhibitions and diverse public activities, further solidifying Hong Kong’s position as a key hub for sustainable fashion in Asia and globally.
Amid the global wave of sustainable development, sustainable fashion has become central to industry transformation and a key focus for Hong Kong in uniting political and business forces. To seize this critical opportunity and strengthen Hong Kong’s position as the East-meets-West centre for international cultural exchange, the one-day International Conference brought together over 20 representatives from the political, business, academic and public sectors to discuss innovative solutions. The focus was on the cross-disciplinary dialogue between sustainable fashion and art, exploring how to integrate artistic aesthetics and the fashion industry into sustainable development concepts to pave new paths for the future of the industry. The opening speech featured Mr. Roger Chan, Chairman of Clothing Industry Training Authority and Mr. Chris Woodward, Director General Trade & Investment, British Consulate General Hong Kong, representing the partner country, marked the official start of this sustainable fashion event.
Mr. Roger Chan, Chairman of Clothing Industry Training Authority opened his welcome remarks by expressing deep sorrow for those affected by the Tai Po fire and led the audience in a minute of silence. He conveyed the strong passion of Fashion Summit (Hong Kong) 2025 for sustainable fashion and highlighted its core theme of responsibly shaping the fashion industry. He stressed: ‘‘Fashion Summit (Hong Kong) focuses innovation, creativity, and the power of meaningful dialogue to drive positive change, while encouraging designers to create timeless fashion that resonates with a global audience. It also emphasises the importance of knowledge exchange, partnerships, and fresh ideas in moving the industry forward. Fashion Summit (Hong Kong) 2025 commenced its expert talks, featuring Mr. Paul Alger MBE, International Business Director at UK Fashion & Textile Association (UKFT), and Mr. Liang Pengcheng, Vice President of the China National Textile and Apparel Council, as distinguished speakers. From international and Chinese perspectives respectively, the two experts shared insights into the development trends and innovative technologies of sustainable fashion, offering valuable guidance to the Hong Kong industry and fostering the sustainable growth of the local fashion sector.
The International Conference brought together over 20 global fashion leaders, leading scholars, NGO representatives, members of the media and decision-makers from various industries as guest speakers. Discussions centred on themes including ‘‘Illuminate the Art of Sustainable Fashion’’, ‘‘Tomorrow Luxury’’, ‘‘Textile Innovation’’, and ‘‘Making Circular Fashion Happen’’. Through four panel discussions and ten professional speeches, it aimed to raise awareness and promote practical engagement with sustainable fashion among both industry stakeholders and the public. Furthermore, it actively explored competitive and sustainable business models, paving the way for a more sustainable future for the fashion industry in Hong Kong and across Asia.
Unleashing Fashion! Highlights from the Fashion Product Showcase and Fashion Exhibition: Global Top Designers Shine with Sustainable Vision
Fashion Summit (Hong Kong) 2025 held its Fashion Product Showcase on 2 December at the Museum Plaza of Hong Kong Palace Museum, 6 renowned designers from the Chinese Mainland, Hong Kong China, UK, Italy, France and Korea were invited to showcase creative fashion designs centred on sustainable concepts that blends cultural heritage, artistic aesthetics and innovative technology, immersing the industry in the infinite appeal of multicultural fusion. Set within an iconic cultural venue, this landmark fashion event depicting the artistic value of fashion and opens a new chapter in sustainable fashion and cultural preservation.
To promote the practice of sustainable consumption, the Fashion Summit (Hong Kong) 2025 Fashion Exhibition was held at The Rotunda of Exchange Square in Central from 12 to 29 November. The exhibition featured five distinct zones, including sustainable fashion collections from Hong Kong China, UK and international designers, interactive art installation, and workshop experience area. It showcased sustainable fashion collections from 11 renowned designers from around the world and Hong Kong China, whose innovative regional perspectives guided visitors through a cross-disciplinary design dialogue, exploring the fashion industry’s future direction. Not only could the public take photos in the interactive art installation, but also participate in 8 ‘‘Arts in Fashion’’ workshops that guided participants in transforming discarded materials into fashionable treasures filled with Hong Kong nostalgia. Each workshop was led by designers and professional instructors, allowing participants to gain a deeper understanding of the design concepts of sustainable fashion and experience intangible heritage crafts and upcycled design, creating fashionable handicrafts that combine practical functions with artistic aesthetics. This series of activities broke the mould of traditional fashion exhibitions, bringing sustainable fashion from an industry concern into the public’s daily.
